Christmas Eve

Zuchinni Bread Blues...

Note to self:
When making neighbor/friend gifts for Christmas always remember to...
a. NOT do it on Christmas Eve
b. Mix each of the 5 batches SEPARATELY... not all together at one time. (Sheepish grin)
c. Make sure you OWN a mixing bowl
d. Make sure you BORROW a bosch or kitchenaide so you don't destroy your poor little hand mixer. (I was determined to make it work... but when smoke started coming out of it... I decided to throw in the towel and finish with a little old fashioned elbow grease.)

So... this year, we decided to bake our Christmas gifts. In all 8 (almost) years of our marriage, we've never baked anything together. Certainly not from scratch. It was Rich's idea, really. Not mine. And although we hadn't a CLUE what we were doing, we had a blast...even though we destroyed the kitchen and killed the mixer. ;) Hey, it was some YUMMY bread. We made and delivered 17 loaves!!!
Our innocent little hand mixer, at the beginning of our adventure:

Rich, realizing that our bowl wasn't going to be nearly big enough to mix all the ingredients of all five batches at once. Haha!
Good thing our friends live two houses away.
Good thing Deborah bakes.
Good thing they had a ginormous bowl for us to borrow.

This is what I did the entire time. Damon was fussy, so Rich got to make the bread while I rooted him on. Hey, it was his idea anyway. ;)

Rich, looking a little frustrated.

Flouring the pans.

R.I.P., Dear Mixer.
